Cornell University BFA Thesis Work
Overview
A contemplative exploration of memory and material, this painting draws on my Japanese and Korean heritage and uses traditional Korean ink. Drawing on Japanese visual traditions, including Yamato-e, Ise katagami, ukiyo-e, and netsuke, this piece is from my grandfather’s Netsuke collection. Following the natural form of wood, it gathers memory, material, and atmosphere into a quiet unfolding.
